Small abscess coming into a yellow head after 1 day of antibiotics

Does anyone know if this is normal or does this mean the antibiotics isn't working? I have an abscess the size of a coin and have been taking Flucloxacillin for a day. There is no improvement in the size or pain, the only thing is it is more raised and coming into a yellow tip. Does that mean it is getting better? Or is it getting worse and I should contact the GP?

Photo please! It’s the law. You might find it continues to form a head and then might burst or it will just subside as the antibiotics work. If it was me I’d squeeze it but it’s not wise, and I’d use warm or hot compresses to draw it out.

It's the antibiotics working. Leave the abscess alone.

If you have to put something on it, use something like germolene or savlon.

@BaldMouse oh thank you. Do people normally put bandages over them? My GP said I need to let it breathe unless it leaks pus. But I’m worried it may cause irritation from rubbing with clothes.

Put some big cotton knickers on, or wander about in a thong under a loose skirt.

Do not prod, pop or put a compress on it. Leave it alone.

And take the whole course of the anti-bionics.

Yep coming to a head is the best thing. I’ve had a few on my back and neck - bloody horrible.
Keep it clean and keep taking the antibiotics.

Don't wear your good pants if it goes it will be messy

Have a hot bath and it may bring it out more

no spooner cares where it is. Get someone to take a photo close up so we can just see the boil in all its glory. And post it on sporner’s corner.
