Hi, I have a planned section in a couple week and understand the morning of your section they will ask a series of questions, do they go into medical history fully? Or just what is discussed in pre op…for example would they discuss something in your medical history such as herpes? Even though its irrelevant as you are having section anyway

Hey. Recently had a section. All I was asked was when I last ate and drank. Do I have any false teeth, nail varnish, jewellery, allergies. That’s all x

assuming you're talking about having had genital herpes, it is important that it's documented somewhere in your maternity notes. Not sure what the usual guidelines are having prophylactic medication - it may be worth asking about that. And it's also worth understanding that the physiological stress of surgery can trigger an episode. It wouldn't form part of a routine anaesthetic assessment (which is the main 'new' assessment that'd happen on the day). If you're having an outbreak at the time of surgery then it would be important to know. If you're worried about them mentioning it in front of your birth partner then it may worth mentioning in advance to your MW and asking for discretion.
