Dentist what should I do?

I have to have a tooth removed.
I have got a private appointment in a few weeks time.
NHS letter referral has come through for me to book with them.
Do I keep my private appointment or go and book in with NHS?
If I booked with NHS will the private dentist be upset?. Both are costing nothing.

Who made the referral? Take whichever is soonest.

@LIZS My NHS dentist made a referral 14 months ago.
I went to a private dentist and they made a referral 3 months ago.
Private one I am booked in for a few weeks time.
NHS booking line is not answering calls so I left a message to call me back. Not sure what date they will give at the minute.
If it is sooner than a few weeks time will private dentist be okay that I would cancel my appointment? (Thanks)

How does a private dentist cost nothing?

NimbleBee · 16/04/2025 14:39

@Allseeingallknowing I was told because its a referral privately they don't charge.
Same happened with a family member of mine last year. They had no charge because they had been referred privately.
