how old?

Weegiemum · 16/05/2008 12:08

They may well give you senna. We have it for ds who has always been a bit 'slow' - from the first taste of solids, and at age 6 is still prone to constipation, even though he is active and eats well. I think his problem is lack of fluids - getting him to drink is really hard going.

Doc gave us Senokot. On the bottle it says not for kids, but GP said that Paedeatricians prescribe it all the time for kids as it is a natural product, and many paeds don't use lactulose as it has a lot of sugar and it a softener, not a stimulant to the bowel.

Dh is a GP (obv not ours!!) and agrees. Ds used to take it every day but now only if he hasnt gone for 2 -3 days. It is fab.

Could you try upping fluid intake? You dont ay how old dd2 is, but we were prescribed the senokot at age 2y6m for ds.

I'd try to get to the root of what's causing it, change diet a little, wheat clogs up my dd I'm very moderate with it. We use massage to get things going but I prefer alternatives.

She's 2 years old, we had this problem with dd1 as she was a fussy eater but dd2 eats fruit, veg and fibre evry day and is usually regular.
