Does this look like the start of shingles, but itchy on my side.

From what I’ve heard and read Shingles is extremely painful usually with a temperature, headache, nausea, and chills, if you have these symptoms then I would get checked out.

This pic was my side recently, i also had headache and my eyes were extremely light sensitive, the rash was itchy . I showed pharmacist who thought shingles and gave me some antivirals for a week. They went away and never developed any new ones.

meant to say, yes get it looked at, you need to start antivirals with 72 hours of rash appearing or they wont work, i was lucky and got it very early

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 14/04/2025 12:19

Yes it does look like it. I had shingles a few years ago.

Natsku · 14/04/2025 12:19

Definitely get it looked at because treatment is time sensitive.
When I had shingles it was just very painful to begin with, the itching didn't come until later, after I had started on anti virals.

It looks like it could be, when I had shingles the area felt very sensitive for a few days before spots appeared skin felt very tender almost like sunburn. It was a really weird thing when the rash appeared sore and itchy at the same time. You need to start the antivirals as soon as possible if it is

Thanks everyone, I went to the pharmacy and he prescribed anti virals

Good luck! Hope you feel better soon.
I think my bout lasted for a few days. Make sure you rest up and take paracetamol if you need to and water.

Thank you! Typical in my week off work 🙈🤣
