Gallstone scan clear - what else ?!

Hi there I'm posting here as finding myself unsure what else to do !
I've had a niggling pain just under my right rib. Sometimes I feel it at the front but it's also radiates to my back and up to my shoulder ! Sometimes it's a dull ache and other times it can be sharp, I also have mild nausea, burping and indigestion but I don't know if it's connected. i recently had an ultrasound as it was suspected gallbladder problems but they said everything looked fine !
My doctor has since been very dismissive saying my ultrasound was fine and it must just be a chronic unexplained pain but I'm worried in case they are missing something ! And obviously googling symptoms has not helped !
Anyone had a gallbladder scan that missed stones or a similar pain which you found a cause of of ? The longer it goes on the more worried I am becoming . Thank you x

How old are you, does the pain relate to anything like eating, and have you had any other symptoms

Mummyrj18 · 13/04/2025 21:26

I'm 36, I do feel like it worsens when I eat but sometimes it can be during the night or at random times. Its definitely happening more frequently. No other symptoms except the indigestion/-heartburn I mentioned. I'm very tired but I have felt that for a very long time so that's not new !

My first scan they told me it was clear. When I went for the preop in 2019 because it had got quite bad I got 'oh yes you've had gallstones since 2016'

Lying fuckers.

@Mummyrj18 , Hi OP, I wondered whether you have found out what was the cause for your pain as I have exactly the same symptoms - persistent ache and discomfort on the right side of abdomen under the ribs for six weeks now. It radiates to the back as well. I also had nausea, burping but doctor prescribed lansoprazole and those symptoms subsided. Ultrasound showed fatty liver but nothing else. I had my gallbladder removed many years ago.

Hopefully, you are better and free from your pain.
