A cold lasting longer than ever: anyone else?

I have had a cold for nearly a week now, which is highly unusual for me. I feel lethargic, sleeping during the day and the snot is the usual amount that you get with a cold. I did a covid test which came out negative. I am guessing that it isn't flu, but I don't know...
Has anyone else had this? I realise that its not life-threatening, but I have a lot to do on my to do list and I am. behind, due to lethargy. Thanks. 😷

Nearly a week is no time at all tbh!
If you’ve never suffered a cold that long before I’d say you’ve been lucky.
Several people at work have been stuffed with colds, and a couple of them are only just starting to feel better halfway through week 2. They’ve all been off sick for multiple days.
Typically, now I’m on holiday time, my throat is feeling scratchy and my nose is starting to run. I’m expecting to be ill for the whole of my time off tbh.

I hope you feel better soon Flowers

Aw, thank you! I hope that you feel better soon and that your time off work is not affected too badly. What bad luck.
Well, that is encouraging to read. I have been a total hermit for the last few days and am wearing a fluffy dressing gown in this warm weather. Gah.

I have been out and about, because it got boring, but each time it sets me back! Gah. Back to the fluffy dressing gown.

Four weeks and counting, and now my glands have just really popped up again so I think I've picked up another one. Kicking me while I'm down, you horrible bugs! Gahhhhhh

This thread isn’t giving me any hope - I’m on day 2 of a really heavy nasty cold. I’m also heavily pregnant and trying to nurse my youngest DC back to health - he’s who I caught this nightmare cold from! I hope everyone starts to feel better soon.

Calling · 29/04/2025 17:02

@TwelfthOfNever so sorry about that. Is it something other than a cold?
@coldscottishmum I hope that you all feel better soon in your family.
Anyone else sleeping a lot more than usual, even in the day?

Day 4 of the bastarding cold from hell. Dragged self into work yesterday and today thinking “it’s only a cold” but admitted defeat this afternoon and have emailed to say I won’t be in today or tomorrow (which is a bugger as wont get paid).
Started with sore throat, then coughing , sneezing, nose running like a tap and so utterly exhausted I feel my body is made of lead….

Calling · 29/04/2025 18:40

@TheNinthLock that sounds bad. I think that lots of warm or hot drinks will help, plus lemon juice.

Sleep is the body healing itself. Try echinacea tincture - I swear by it

TheNinthLock · 29/04/2025 20:17

I have some echinacea. And some night nurse. Am planning a very early night!

lunalovegood25 · 29/04/2025 21:00

I’ve just had this, turned into an upper respiratory infection and dragged on. Still coughing

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 29/04/2025 21:07

I had this a few weeks ago before Easter. Ended up with a chest infection.

TheNinthLock · 30/04/2025 07:20

Slept well (thank you night nurse) but woke at 6am with nose totally blocked and face that feels like someone took a sledgehammer to it in the night.
Throat sore again (that was first symptom saturday but wore off, I thought I'd seen the last of that) and feel very cold yet clammy.
Definitely the right decision to not work today and tomorrow (and possibly friday) but argh as don't get paid if ill. So I am ill rarely and reluctantly....
DS had this last week but shook it off after 5 days and was still able to function (albeit in a reduced capacity, there was lots of sofa lounging....)
Hope my fellow bastarding cold from hell sufferers are on the mend soon!

TheNinthLock · 30/04/2025 07:21

Oh lordy, just read the two posts saying this turned into chest infections. This would not be fun...

TheNinthLock · 30/04/2025 07:24

How are you feeling @Calling , @coldscottishmum and @TwelfthOfNever ?
@lunalovegood25 , I hope you are on the mend?

TwelfthOfNever · 30/04/2025 11:22

Getting there. Still coughing. At least it's nice outside now!

lunalovegood25 · 30/04/2025 12:44

still snotty and coughing but feeling better

Calling · 16/05/2025 10:00

I hope that you all are feeling better.

I decided that it might be sinusitis and got drops from the doctor.
I still have to sleep a lot!
