Ear infection but gp said it’s Eustachian tube dysfunction?

Hello,
So I’ve had loads of ear infections in the past. Had sore throat for months (tonsillitis in October & on off sore since then) assumed it’s from my children bringing endless viruses from school/nursery
last 5 days my left ear feels blocked, my lymph nodes in neck swollen & awful body aches. My ear feels like it’s popping & I have an ‘underwater’ feeling. Just been to out of hours gp who said it’s Eustachian tube dysfunction, not even a virus? Why the body aches 😢

Eustachian tube dysfunction happens when the tubes are blocked with mucus - That can happen when you have a virus..... maybe you have both?!
The popping and underwater sensation is most likely ETD, but the aching and lymph glands raised/tender is more likely a virus. Still not much a GP can do for either, antibiotics wont work on virus or ETD. Can try nasal sprays/rinses from the pharmacy and paracetamol/ibuprofen if you aren't already but you sort of have to ride it out and wait for it to clear! Good luck
