Hi - can anyone help please. I’ve found a really hard noticeable lump behind my left ear. It’s hard, feels like bone, never been there before. The other side has a slight tiny bump but is normal where as this is a lot bigger. Any ideas. I’ll try and get in with my doctor to ask. Thanks

Look up lymph glands.

Are they hard- it feels like bone almost and doesn’t move and I don’t feel unwell

There's loads of lumps and bumps, lymph nodes and things that pop up around that area, honestly I wouldn't be worried at all, especially if you feel ok in yourself.

Theunamedcat · 09/04/2025 18:17

It's most likely a lymph gland ds used to get them and because his hair was so short you could easily see them they were really hard and he wasn't ill he was just fighting something off even hay-fever could spark them off

Go to the doctors and get them to check it out. My dad found one like this recently and it turned out to be cancer. It most likely isn't but I would get a medical opinion on this one.

He felt fine to, just a lump came up on his neck.

I had a large lump, very hard, come up behind my ear, right in the crease. In the end it popped and was full of pus

Thanks everyone and sorry @MigGril to here about your dads lump. I think because I feel well and I’ve never had a hard lump there before I’ve panicked a bit

Had this years ago. Was worried too, went to the GP and it was indeed a lymph node. Went away after a while, never to be seen again. This was easily 15 years ago and I’m still kicking!

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 09/04/2025 18:47

I’ve had a hard gland there for 25 years and it hasn’t changed or grown at all. I have one on my neck on the other side too. I do feel like crap 99% of the time, so it could be something but GP has never been worried about it! Try not to think the worst, but maybe book an appointment to put your mind at rest.

BonniesSlave · 09/04/2025 19:08

I get them on and off. They usually drain away. Dont worry about it at all

yep I have one - hard as bone. recently had 2 full bloodworks due to anemea and blood pressure - didn't come back with anything scary. had lump for decades and still alive and kicking

Anyminute · 09/04/2025 21:13

I've got one I've had for a few years. It's the size of half a pea and hard. GP sent me for a scan but it was nothing to worry about. I'd go to GP to be on the safe side, but I think they can be lymph nodes. Mine came up after a Covid jab.

Hello, kindly, please respond!!

I have this hard bean sized lump under my ear/behind jaw that doesn't move. Obviously I am freaking. Been here for three months as far as I know.

I went to the DR and they did a ultrasound and said it looks like a lymph node with benign characteristics...but I have read all over saying ultrasound isn't reliable, hard fixed means cancer. And I will say it's been a wild ride after having my second baby, six months ago. Weird things have been happening to my body and Drs don't have any answers. I also don't have a patroid gland there anymore (removed 20 years ago, benign tumor).

I want to get another opinion from a dr..but idk if I'm being crazy..

How big was your father's? Did he have an ultrasound for diagnosis?

Is yours fixed in place? How big, please

Sammycat1 · 29/12/2025 18:59

could you tell me if it went away? I am going through something similar

Thestarsinthesky · 29/12/2025 21:29

Yes it did! It was so odd. It came up , I went to the doctor who could feel it- he said to come back in 3 weeks if it didn’t go away. It did go really quickly but then I got poorly like pneumonia straight after! So odd! Hope you’re ok
