Became unwell Monday. Straight in with severe hard cough. Breathless and weak. By evening indigestion added to the coughing.

The night was hell. Coughing to the point of gagging and the feeling of if only I could be sick.
And headache.

Got an appointment with nurse clinical at surgery. I have a high temperature and blood oxygen saturation borderline requiring hospital admission.

The other strange symptom is I’m very sensitive to smells. All smells are torture even down to the smell of DH ironing his shirts.

No appetite, felt very sick. Couldn’t manage toast. Then blessed relief had a sip of tea and that was enough to make me vomit. Hallelujah!

Had a less crap might. DH has moved to another room. Can’t say I blame him.

Still coughing, still shivering. Is been rough and not been 48 hours yet. I’m 59 years old so definitely not pregnant, 😂 Anyone else had similar? I suspect covid but my sense of smell is in overdrive.

Yes definitely Sounds like Covid

Darkclothes · 09/04/2025 08:39

So were you admitted to the hospital or not? Surely they did blood tests, infection markers etc? Have you done a covid test yet? Whooping cough is also going around.

IthinkIamAnAlien · 09/04/2025 09:25

It's Covid, plenty of it still about OP you have exactly the same symptoms as I had when I tested positive, take care.

FrogsAndDaffodils · 09/04/2025 21:35

I have this, it came on really suddenly on Sunday. And the indigestion with the cough is awful. I just feel so sick, and the acid burn with the coughing/chest pain is awful.

I'm hoping it will ease off soon, as it's so crap!

BeMintFatball · 09/04/2025 21:40

@FrogsAndDaffodils isn’t it just awful! Have you taken a covid test?

my daughter had bought a test for me to do but she won’t be home until late. Will do it tomorrow morning and give an update

OP posts:
FrogsAndDaffodils · 09/04/2025 21:43

No, I haven't tested. To be honest I haven't tested for Covid in a long time. I don't think I've been in bed ill for ages. But I've barely been out of bed since Sunday!

BeMintFatball · 10/04/2025 11:19

@FrogsAndDaffodils how are you feeling today?

My chest is no better and nose is a bit fuzzy feeling. But I slept better. Think I will get up and shower today.

Most important thing I have tested and am negative for Covid

Hails68 · 10/04/2025 11:32

I have exactly the same symptoms, been in bed since Sunday.

Colourbrain · 10/04/2025 11:35

I have similar symptoms. It came on suddenly yesterday afternoon although I had had a little cough for a few days. The nausea feeling is awful and seems to be worse when I cough.

FrogsAndDaffodils · 10/04/2025 13:39

My chest is still awful, and so painful. My nose is now running quite a bit. The gaviscon double action are helping with the acid, so that's something!

BeMintFatball · 10/04/2025 23:01

Sorry to hear more of us are feeling poorly.
Personally I felt better for actually being sick. Appetite slowly returning. Still hate tea and can’t stomach the smell of the dog’s food.

OP posts:
Darkclothes · 10/04/2025 23:16

What was your covid result OP? I'm glad you are on the mend, even if slowly.

FreezingJane · 10/04/2025 23:18

Not Sure how, but I had Covid last year and tested positive in one set of packs and negative in another - so don’t be too sure!
symptoms sound very familiar - especially the sensory ones. The weird smells were the worst!

BeMintFatball · 11/04/2025 09:44

@Darkclothes covid test was negative

Today the phlegm on my chest is loose. Headache gone. Tea is tolerable. Dog food still nauseating. Blood vessels keep popping up my nose

OP posts:
FrogsAndDaffodils · 11/04/2025 11:22

My chest has eased today too, it's moved to my sinuses. But I do feel better than yesterday, so hopefully it'll have run it's course soon.

Colourbrain · 11/04/2025 16:19

I started off feeling really nauseous this morning and exhausted, now feeling a bit better and managed a shower but have lost my sense of taste and my appetite has decreased. I feel like every day the symptoms are different. I slept so much better last night though and my cough is less. Hope everyone starting to feel better.

coxesorangepippin · 12/04/2025 01:52

Sounds like COVID

Hope you feel better soon

LickYouLikeACrispPacket · 12/04/2025 02:03

@BeMintFatball that’s so strange about the sensitivity to smells. I had the exact same symptom and despite having no taste or smell for food really I had a smell up my nose which made me feel like I had pregnancy nausea again. It was weird.
I think it was Covid, was very unwell for over 2 weeks and needed antibiotics for sinusitis and a chest infection at the tail end of it. I was literally zapped of energy. Hope you feel better soon. Rest up! X

TuckedUpInBedWithAPackOfCremeEggs · 12/04/2025 03:06

My DB has just had exactly this - including the super sensitivity to smells. Covid test also negative but it did seem just like Covid

dothehokeycokey · 12/04/2025 08:40

I started with this on Tuesday. Really heady feeling and straight to my chest. So much snot the first two days and the acid when coughing has been horrendous. Feeling abit better today but have felt light headed and woozy hot and cold and although I can’t taste or smell everything is bitter.

Periodicrituals · 12/04/2025 22:24

I’ve had something this for two weeks and counting, including the sensitivity to smells. Everyone in my house has been floored by the same virus (negative for covid).

mamaduckbone · 16/04/2025 09:10

I've had something similar, although not the smell sensitivity. Everything tasted bitter and weird, and the chest pain when coughing was horrendous. Tested negative for Covid but I ended up off work and in bed for two days which is unheard of.
I'm a week and a half in, still coughing, still sneezing and runny nose like the first couple of days of a cold, and sooo tired. I'm off work on holiday this week and doing very little. What a waste of a holiday week.

BeMintFatball · 16/04/2025 10:15

Finished the antibiotics. Don’t think they did much as pretty sure this was a virus.

still coughing, nothing like I was but not well. Every small task zaps me

Has anyone been left with lingering stomach pain and indigestion after this? I feel better, still a bit lethargic and cough better but my stomach feels awful. I feel hungry, start eating and then don't want to eat more than a few mouthfuls.
