Which us better: washing your dirty shoes in the kitchen or bathroom sink?

My husband thinks washing dirty boots in the kitchen sink is more hygienic than using the bathroom sink. I totally disagree. Am I wrong?

Bathroom. But just double deep bleach clean after and either would be fine.

RosesAndHellebores · 06/04/2025 12:40

I take it you don't have an outside tap?

HarrietSchulenberg · 06/04/2025 12:41

Either is fine as long as the sink and surroundings are cleaned well afterwards.
Just don't put them in with the dishes if you're using the kitchen sink.

vandelle · 06/04/2025 12:43

Neither. Out the back using a bucket and the garden hose.

Think of what could be on the soles! And I am no germ freak either....

HerbieFluffyDumpling · 06/04/2025 12:44

I wouldn't do either to be honest! If you don't have an outside tap, I'd use a bucket of water outside. If you can only wash them inside, make sure you bleach the sink afterwards.

Iloveeverycat · 06/04/2025 12:46

Outside with bucket and hose.

blacksax · 06/04/2025 12:48

Good grief - what are you all treading in? Unless you are perpetually wading through acres of shit and coming home with your boots plastered in the stuff (in which case I'd suggest you clean them outside), then the kitchen sink is fine. Then clean the sink afterwards.

What a to-do about nothing.

Reallybadidea · 06/04/2025 12:49

Bathroom. But unless they're covered in dog shit then it's really no different to washing muddy hands after gardening. No big deal and no need for "deep cleaning" or bleaching anything afterwards IMHO.

Ollybob · 06/04/2025 12:52

I usually do that sort of thing in the bath, lots of tiles so any splashes are easily wiped down which will happen when cleaning boots.
I have no outside space at all unfortunately.

Expletive · 06/04/2025 13:09

Neither. Outside with a bucket.

shipinfullsail · 06/04/2025 15:20

Outside with a bucket of hot soapy water.

Hysterectomynext · 06/04/2025 15:24

Depends which one you wash your bum in. Choose that one I say

BeyondMyWits · 06/04/2025 15:36

Doesn't matter. Just clean the sink after.

Where do you wash a possibly ecoli or salmonella infested knife/plate/chopping board that has had raw chicken on it.

KittensGardenofVerses · 06/04/2025 15:39

Neither. You do it outside with a bucket, old toothbrush and raggy cloths.
