Boco my brother once had a migraine as part of a virus - he only ever had this one migraine in his life afaik. You may be lucky and only ever have this one.

Mine I believe are hormone related - started at the age of 10 and since the age of 13 there has been a strong link to my cycle.

I was on the combined pill for a while (years ago) as my GP rather unwisely said it would be ok. I used to get several awful migraines a month as the hormones really affected me. I was fine on the mini pill. During pg I had several, really bad because I couldn't take anything bar paracetamol.

Diet doesn't seem to affect mine. Occasionally if I am due on and have a glass of wine this may trigger an "underlying" migraine, but generally I can tolerate a couple of glasses of wine etc. I try to drink plenty of other fluids generally, as I know dehydration can be a factor in migraine.I also eat/snack regularly to try and keep blood sugar levels fairly stable.

Lack of sleep is another major trigger, thankfully for me b/feeding seems to help me avoid migraines so even though dd2 has me up in the night still I haven't so far had a migraine as a result.

Just telling you all this in case any of it is helpful?

I get the visual disturbances but no headache. If you have to be up and about in the house wear sunglasses, I found this helped a little. Sorry I can't help on the swelling, I've not had that part of it before. I hope you feel better soon.

Have never had swollen eyes with a migraine, only if I have been crying as well.

I would suggest going to GP tomorrow if still not right.
