Sprained foot recovery times

I fell over on Sunday and managed to sprain my foot quite badly and it's lovely and puffy. I've been to minor injuries who were fab and x-rayed it and confirmed nothing broken just a bad sprain.

The issue is that I'm supposed to be going a work trip to climb Snowdon in two weeks time...... Will it be better by then? I've never had a sprain before so not sure on recovery times and forgot to ask the nurse.

I did this a few years ago. It’s obviously depends on the severity of the sprain. Mine was pretty bad and it was a good two weeks before the swelling went and I wasn’t limping and then maybe about eight weeks in total where I didn’t have any pain. Soft tissue can take ages to heal.

Six weeks before my wedding. I managed to get up the aisle but still had to be careful.

Oh sugar, I was hoping you’d say a week! I didn’t realise it could take that long. I’d better call my boss and see if someone can replace me on the Snowdon trip.

I’m a frequent sprainer of ankles. It usually takes several weeks / a couple of months to return to hiking.

Two weeks still likely to swellon use and be painful, sorry,

No chance sorry. 5 / 6 weeks return to normal activities, 2 / 3 months return to intense sport.
Consider a physio to give you exercises to strengthen it up again.
