Hard to work out exactly what’s going on as there is no punctuation in this at all sorry OP.
Assume you are worried that you still have symptoms or worse symptoms(?) despite being on potassium supplements? How long have you been taking them for?

Whether the folate results are low or not really depends on if the units are in nanomol/L or micrograms/L.
I would always seek medical advice rather than relying on Dr Mumsnet. Get well soon x

My advice is take the advice of the doctor you’re seeing tomorrow rather than asking random anonymous people on a chat forum.

Thanks @Holidaynewbie an absolutely no need to comment such a blunt an rude message @MissedItByThisMuch however thanks for finding the time to type such a ridiculous comment on a forum where lots of people ask advice like this medical or not. Let's hope you never need a bit of reassurance yourself. Take care.

@Moonlight1290 the message from holidaynewbie was very sensible - not at all rude or blunt.

Plus - if you don't say how the results are measured there is no way people could comment on them Confused

Rude ! It was perfectly clear what OP was trying to explain.
OP I would speak to GP again but in the meantime continue taking the potassium supplement as prescribed.

This, if youhave symptoms seek medical advice.
I would want to check your blood pressure and repeat the ECG for example I can't do that through the internet.

My only advice is stay hydrated and consider using rehydration tablets rather than plan water, although if you are eating that shouldn't be necessary.

Confused

how is it rude? Oh - I guess you mean the remark about punctuation?

It is not a ridiculous comment, the only way to correctly and safely interpret blood results is by a qualified medical professional, in the context of your whole medical history. If you don’t want people’s honest opinions don’t ask for them.

I was just a bit worried about these new symptoms of dizziness exhaustion appearing since iv been put on the potassium tablets an was looking general advice before i seen the doctor in the hope of someone whos maybe had similar reaction to taking them or if perhaps im running low on something else i havnt been quite precise with my blood results as i cant work them out sorry for that.I will take heed tho an rely on the medical professionals. Thanks an take care to you all.

@Moonlight1290 sorry if my comment about punctuation was rude 🙈 I had to read it a couple of times but probably just me being stupid.
@Ozmel61 apologies to you too 🤣

Hello - I came across this thread and am curious what the update is (if you dont mind sharing)

I have low potassium too - blood test confirmed it and even after taking the potassium prescribed it is low (3 I already take magnesium.
I am veggie but eat well and drink plenty of water. I exercise lots and am concerned about the heart and what low potassium can do to it. GP has assured me I can continue exercising and exerting myself. I do feel weak and tired though
Did they find a cause?

Moonlight1290 · 27/10/2025 07:23

Hi sorry only reading this now no I continued with tablets but didnt feel ok on them felt worse if im honest I then ate a banana every day which I have to say helped loads when I went back for a repeat of bloods potassium was normal again so never did find a cause my advice is to eat a banana a day my dr told me this too it keeps levels up I was worried to but it just seemed to settle again try not to overthink it are you feeling any better?
