Low platelet count and swollen lymph nodes

Asking for a hand hold here, as I'm really upset, and as sad as it sounds to admit, have nobody to chat this through with
So last week I noticed an ache feel in my groin, and a visibly popped lymph node on the groin, like where pants sit. Ive been able to feel my nodes for like... forever, ever since I was a child. This time it looked bigger and visible from the outside, so I went to my GP.
GP wasn't overly concerned, but organised an US. US is at the end of this week.
Also had blood test. Test results came.back early, and i platelet count is low. I had a call from the Dr, apparently my platelets have always been low (never knew that, but I used to get nose bleeds, which is a symptom), but never this low. 😯
So a follow up blood test this week, and US. If all clear on US, less of a worry, but might need a follow up with haematologist to rule out blood cancer.......

I am beside myself. This time last week,.I was blissfully unaware, now I have a week of worrying ahead. Obviously hope all okay, but I really do not what to think or how I feel.

US is this Sunday. Blood test wednesday. Has anyone else had low platelets (mine were 108 this time, previously 130) and it turned out not bad-bad? All other markers looked fine to my non trained eye (within limits, anyway), except cell size marker, which was just tip over the upper level at 14.1.

Asking for a virtual friendly arm around me to calm me down, really. Sorry for being a bit of a blubbery mess....

Ah no, sorry you’re going through this OP. Try to distract yourself until the USS results, watch a daft TV show (bonus points if it’s funny). Hopefully these are just the same longstanding issues you’ve always had.

Hi @0hwhy0why0 how are you doing?

Thank you for asking, I did mean to come back to update in case anyone else is going through something similar, as I find these posts really helpful in times of panic.
All is well with me, but it was a stressful time!!
The swollen lymph node sort of reduced by the time I had the USS, and they noted it is below the size they would be worried about, and mine are very close to surface, which could well be why I can see/feel mine. Coincidentally, it has popped back up again, not 100% it is the same node, it is on the same side, but it has increased again. I did note both times were around my period, so wondering could that be somehow linked? Logic says no, but weird stuff does happen, no? Could also be due to shaving, as i get a lot of ingrown hairs....
Blood tests..... well, that was the real palaver! Second blood test, platelets clumped, so the reading was not possible. I had pretty much every other blood test done, and all pretty normal, I noticed the results had low iron, but I'm guessing not dangerously low, as doctor did not mention anything about it. (I have started iron supplements, as it cannot hurt, can it) So then the third test was done specifically for platelets, in a special blue top tube. It came back normal!! 250 something. So the GP said US fine and blood test normal, which is reassuring.
I'm just keeping an eye on the lymph node, but trying not to get myself in a tizz, as last time it did go down in a week or so. It's been 4 days now and i think it is decreasing again. I recently lost quite a bit of weight, through trying, not by accident, which I think may have contributed to lymph nodes being very palpable again.
Fingers crossed it is normal, and not sinister! But obviously, will keep an eye on and go back if anything changes.
