Sudden blurred vision

I am fairly sure I have Covid/ flu. Earlier today I had a really sudden blurred vision in one eye it lasted a few minutes (long enough for me to panic about it) and then really suddenly was gone. Trying to work out what it was?

Could be an optical migraine

Could be anything but you need to rule out physical cause eg
• a stroke so an A&E visit and anti-stroke meds needed or at least call 111

When youre feeling better do book yourself an appointment at the opticians as sudden blurred vision could be an indicator of other issues.

At a routine visit to the Optician, she noticed scar tissue on one eye after doing a scan of the eye.She then confirmed a loss of vision in one eye when I did the field test. I had been offered this extra scan at my previous visit and chose to have them because it was not very expensive and I think eye sight is very important.

I was not aware of any visual problems but then recalled waking up one morning with blurred vision which at the time I put it down to still being tired after a poor nights sleep as it went away after a few minutes. Turned out that such symptoms can be an indicator of a TIA ( mini stroke) so she referred me to my GP and to the Eye Hospital under a two week pathway. Within a few weeks of various tests it was confirmed that I had indeed had a TIA and am now on various medications to prevent another one.

I am so grateful to my Optician and that I had taken up the opportunity to have the extra scan. I suggest you also go to see an Optician and get the scan done.
