Ramipril size of tablets

I've been on ramipril (10mg) for years. They've always been teeny tiny tablets. Brilliant because I can only swallow little tablets. Then these latest ones turn out to be massive! Even though it's still the same dosage! So I've tried to swallow them but just sicked it all back up (so probably sicked my other tablets up too so probably nothing in me now). I am so disappointed. After all these years

Has anyone else still got the teeny tiny tablets for this medicine if you're on the same dosage? Or has yours gone massive too?

I've got to try again tomorrow I guess

Also on 10mg Ramipril - always had capsules from any one of our local pharmacies, I had no idea it came in tablets! It is very hit and miss as to what colour and size the caps are though (current ones are purple), and I swear one particular brand gives me a cough. Annoying.

FiveShelties · 28/03/2025 09:39

When I took them, they were always capsules. Are you sure the pharmacist has sent the correct medication?

purpleme12 · 28/03/2025 09:45

They do come in capsules as well as tablets.
It says on the box and on the silver thing that the tablets are in 10mg ramipril. When I spoke to the chemist about this whole thing she also said it's the same. So it seems like it's the same just a massive change in tablet size

How annoying @purpleme12, I have reduced my dose down to 2.5 and they are tiny capsules - hoping I will not need those for long as my BP is now low!

BellissimoGecko · 28/03/2025 09:50

My ramipril 10mg is capsules with the plastic coating - easy to swallow. Could you ask to change to those?

purpleme12 · 28/03/2025 10:20

No capsules are worse

I just had to have a course of Aciclovir 800mg, blooming biggest tablets I have ever taken, said in the leaflet they are 19.3mm long😆

vandelle · 28/03/2025 13:52

Are lower doses a smaller size? Could you get 4 times the 2.5mg or twice the 5mg, they might be smaller than the 10mg.

purpleme12 · 28/03/2025 23:31

I don't know I've only ever had 10mg of it.
But definitely will think about this option

So tonight I broke it in two

In the bathroom in case I was sick

I managed to swallow the first one.

I didn't manage to swallow the second half. I think when you break them it's just not quite got that smooth round edge has it.

On the plus side I've got more medicine in me tonight

I guess it's try again tomorrow....

Try chewing a piece of bread ,when it's nice and soft put the pill in your mouth ,swallow and then drink water.

purpleme12 · 29/03/2025 08:18

So chew it?
