Recurrent thyroid cyst

Hi
I had a 3cm colloid thyroid cyst aspirated (drained) several months ago. The consultant was happy that it was benign. The swelling in my neck never completely went away but it’s definitely bigger than it’s ever been now and discomfort has returned.
Does anyone know what happens next? Do I go back to GP, try and contact consultant or just put up with it??
Ty

I wouldn’t put up with it. Sounds as though you have been discharged from consultant. If yes, then you will need go ask GP to refer you again. All the best with getting it sorted.

Thank you, looks like I'll have to do that!

I've had one for 26 years ! Drained a few times, I'm not sure they ever completely go once you have them. I would have thought you would have a follow up appointment before full discharge?
Contact your consultants secretary to check if there will be a follow up and if there isn't explain your concerns. I was monitored for several years before being discharged on a "watch and wait" basis, then over the years if I felt it had grown I went to my GP who would refer me back to the consultant.

The good news is you know what it is as the FNA will have been tested, but maybe it's filled up again. Call the secretary, good luck x
