What was that all about then?

Just wonder if any wise mners can shed some light on a horrible experience last night.
Went out for dinner with some friends. Started to feel a bit uncomfortable by the time I got home. Watched a movie with DH. Went to bed.
Felt like I was having fitful sleep.
Woke up and had urge to go to bathroom.

Couldn't poo, then became a bit woozy and too hot so I turned on the cold tap and put my hands in it while I was on the loo. Then felt extremely dizzy so I laid down on the floor... Then felt very nauseous so I sat up to be sick in the loo.

Next I knew I was lying on DH. He said he had come in and my eyes were open and I was groaning , head on chest as I'd fallen into the shower and was at a weird angle. I had the sensation that he had dragged me out of being dead 😂😂 I mean clearly I just fainted but I kept saying thank you I'm not dead 😭

Then I had about an hour's worth of diarrhoea and been fine since.

Weird brief bug? It's not like it matters, I'm just surprised with how fast it expelled itself and left me!

food poisoning?

Stimulation of your vagus nerve along with mild drop in blood pressure

If it’s over and doesn’t happen all the time I’d forget it

Thanks. I often have a vagus reaction relating to anything sicky - as in, not often, just whenever I am unfortunate enough to have a bug.
I was more wondering if it's possible to have a virus that only lasts two hours.
Evidently it is, as my DH now has it. Fortunately I'm fit as a fiddle again .

I had a similar episode a few years ago , I had been out for lunch and eaten a mushroom risotto, within 1/2 hour had severe D&V , felt very dizzy, within a couple of hours was back to normal , I’d assumed food poisoning but very odd to recover so quickly

TheChosenTwo · 23/03/2025 19:42

Not necessarily food poisoning but could have just been something you’d eaten that didn’t agree with you. Although in ops
case possibly not if dh now has it.

I collapsed in a restaurant bathroom once years ago. I felt really ill (and very embarrassed). They insisted on calling an ambulance and this is what they diagnosed.
