Online Pharmacy

Husband and I have been using Phlo, online pharmacy for our NHS prescriptions. They have emailed to say they are discontinuing the service at the beginning of April. They have provided a first class service, with free delivery. Given that this results from a decision to close some of their bricks and mortar branches (or so they say), I’m a bit annoyed that they haven’t given us more notice. Can mumsnetters recommend another that is reliable and does not charge delivery for NHS prescriptions?

If you have an NHS prescription, your usual local pharmacy will deliver. I imagine some still don't offer this service, but the vast majority do. They are paid by the NHS.

They have waiting lists for the service and (the reason we started using an online pharmacy) too often, they don’t have various of our medications in stock.

Oh, dear. Is it the only pharmacy in your area? Or how about the Boots in your nearest town, can they do it?

TooManyNiblings · 20/03/2025 17:18

Very few community pharmacies offer free delivery, the NHS does NOT cover it!

BrownyMousy · 20/03/2025 17:22

I use Phlo and they're great. I haven't had an email about them discontinuing anything. I've looked on their website but can't find anything. Is this for a particular area?

It may be the NHS cover is only for free prescriptions (mine are).

There are, however, many pharmacies offering free prescription delivery.

There is no NHS money for deliveries, the pharmacy is funding it. There was an amount for deliveries during COVID but it has long stopped.

I get my NHS prescriptions sent by Pharmacy2U and I pay £9.90 which is just the prescription charge I think. I’ve had no issues with them.

waitingforthehallmarkedman · 20/03/2025 18:21

I also use Pharmacy2U. I have a pre paid certificate so don't pay per prescription. No issues with them at all. I switched during covid.

pyewatchet · 20/03/2025 18:27

We all use Pharmacy2U at home. You just pay for your prescriptions unless you’re exempt when it’s free.

No, this applies to Boots, Lloyds and a couple of independents.

I was homing in on this one. It’s good to have the recommendation.

As far as I know it’s nationally. I’d check your junk folder. This is what I received.
