Red patch on tongue

For about a week now I’ve had a red patch on my tongue, it kinda feel rough or dry sometimes, doesn’t hurt but can feel it more if I eat something salty.

my health anxiety is screaming cancer (maybe ptsd where I used to work in dentistry and saw some mouth cancer patients and it scares me shitless)

it doesn’t really have a border or any lesion/ulcer, it’s just a flat tree patch almost like the red of my tongue is paler.

has anyone had this? Should I be worried.. how long should I leave it before I see the GP?

I’ve had a red patch on my tongue when my B12 was low, but honestly if you are really worried about it, make a GP appointment. It will either be something, in which case you will be referred early, or most likely it will be nothing in which case you can stop worrying.

Can you clarify this sentence: "it’s just a flat tree patch almost like the red of my tongue is paler".

Are you saying it is a red patch or a pale patch?

I've had something like this for 18 months. Also a burning feeling. My dentist referred me to maxfacillo or whatever they're called. They didn't know what it was. Did some blood tests and all came back normal. They've discharged me now saying they don't know what it is but it isn't anything to worry about.

Could be geographic tongue?

I would see your dentist - first port of call - try not to worry - I sympathise as I am a born worrier and always catastrophising!
