Wisdom tooth extraction

I had my top wisdom tooth removed this morning, the Dentist seemed positive it would heal okay and mentioned that he'd put a covering over if that would dissolve. He also gave me 7 days of amoxicillin.

Something has just fallen out of my mouth, I panicked and called the receptionist and she said if it wasn't bleeding then it would be okay but I'm now worrying about dry socket.

If I'm going to get it, do I just have to get on with it and just get on with the course of antibiotics he's given me?

I did just dig the thing out of the bin, it didn't have much blood on it, it was white and when I squished it looked like a tiny tiny white thing.

I'm not sure what a blood clot is supposed to look like...

Please don't tell me scary stories of dry socket I've already read too many :-( 😝

Bloody teeth!!

I think the stuff he's put in your socket is something called surgicel, it's like white mesh and helps to stop bleeding. It can fall out and that's fine. Did they tell you to take the antibiotics from today? From tomorrow(24 hours after the extraction) you can do some warm salt mouth rinses and gently bathe the area a few times a day.

To be fair I can't remember if he said start the antibiotics yesterday or today so I just started yesterday. Thank you for responding!! 😊
