Painful boils on side, just above my hip.

This morning I woke up to the most painful boil on my left-hand side, just about my hip.
It felt like it was throbbing, looked red and angry. I squeeze and released some pus (hoping that would take some of the pressure away). It helped a little but I'm still in pain hours later. Through my clothes it feels still very prominent, like a hard marble. Sorry, don't know how else to describe it!. This has happened (same place on my side) last few months, a couple of weeks before my period is due.
I get the usual back and face pimples, but never anything painful like on my side.
How can I best treat these painful ones at home? It takes weeks to get a GP appointment in my area and I'm trying not to burden my GP.

If you have some vicks vapour rub put a big blob of it on and cover with a dressing. The menthol helps with the pain.
I know from experience how painful it is and vicks is a godsend for me.

I’m sure you are right that it’s a boil but thought worth mentioning that’s the spot a got shingles. I didn’t know it was shingles, thought it was a boil or bite to begin with. Good luck
