Black poo?

DD (1yo) has done a black poo this morning. The only weird thing she ate yesterday was a blackcurrant tart (!) given to her by grandad.

I went on the internet and it has freaked me out. Anyone have any reassuring words of wisdom?

don't panic! it was probably the tart, check the next one to be sure.

Pinkjenny · 13/05/2008 11:02

I can't believe they gave a one year old a whole blackcurrant tart.

No - but apparently blackcurrants are full of iron. I sound like I'm clutching at straws but its the only unusual thing she ate yesterday.

I know, I looked on Google and it was all 'dried blood in stools' and I was just white with panic.

Thanks LL - will make sure the next one is OK. She's in nursery so I'm panicking more, plus she is covered in a rash, which she has had for days.

Nursery don't think the two are connected.

Thanks LL - we went yesterday. And the day before.

Although that was 'pre' black poop.

Just seen your original thread. I'm sure its the blackcurrants. If her next poo is weird, I'll take her.

I'm just worrying so much more because she's in nursery.

Stop worrying, get thee to my house and CALM down

Pinkjenny · 13/05/2008 12:34

But there's a condition I've found called Henoch Schonlein Purpura which can cause a rash AND blood in stools.

Damn my grandad and his blackcurrant tart!
