Sedation for a Root Canal

Might have to go private as my dentist doesn’t do sedation.

Any idea roughly how much this costs.

Google dentists in your area as it will vary depending on location, most of them publish their price lists.

in our area it’s from £1250 for rct. the sedation depends on if it’s oral (from £150) or iv (from £300)

it would probably be cheaper to see a private gp for a prescription of diazepam to get you through it at your regular dentist. I know our regular gp wouldn’t prescribe in these circumstances.

Do you have a general fear of the dentist or is it just root canal?

Only ask as I have had root canal done (three I think) and found it a thoroughly painless experience.

I'm completely phobic of the dentist, have to force myself to go once a year and I've had a root canal without issue. I'm type 2 diabetic and have got ultra sensitive teeth so even an inspection has me hyper ventilating. My dentist is amazing, she places local anaesthetic all round my mouth before even attempting to blow air/water around my teeth. When I had root canal, she did it in stages (1st session was just over 2 hours) and I honestly only had to ask her to stop once - and she administered more anaesthetic.

I’m being sedated for dental work soon and the quote for the sedation part is £150

Yes I have terrible dental phobia. I had a Root Canal about 10 years ago and when he opened the tooth it was excruciating even with anaesthetic the rest of it wasn’t too it was just the initial drilling the tooth open. It’s making me extremely anxious though.
