I work with SEND children and was hurt when supporting a dysregulated child. Initially the pain was in my thumb, attended a walk in centre to be checked. I was assessed and told to return for X-ray the next day. The X-ray didn’t show a fracture so she told me to self cert for the rest of the week (2 days) but I didn’t want to do this over a sprain so she strapped it and I returned to work. I was still swollen and in a bit of pain but it was manageable. On the Friday the swelling and pain was worse but more so in my wrist. My hand was also icy cold! I returned to the walk in centre again and after examination was told it was highly likely a scaphoid fracture and was splinted. I have an appointment at fracture clinic on Monday. Swelling has reduced a bit, pain is more severe and I still cannot grip. What I’m most concerned about is the fact my hand is still ice cold. What is going on? Anyone had this with a scaphoid fracture?
