Sore throat for 3 weeks?

I've had a sore throat for about 3 weeks. I initially had some kind of cold virus, but that's mostly gone...it's just this weird, itchy feeling that's left, but I don't actually feel unwell anymore?

Sometimes it'll be totally fine, but then it'll randomly start hurting/feeling irritated, and I can't figure out what it is/what's going on. Anyone had this? Reluctant to go to the GP with a sore throat....and impossible to get an appointment at my GP surgery at the moment

Yes, my DBro and his wife who got it from their kids at nursery. After weeks of misery he managed to get his throat swabbed at a private GP, turned out it was strep. They all cleared straight up with antibiotics.

(I'm not saying yours is! But his was)

The other thing it could be is hay fever, sometimes that gives me a mysterious on and off itchy sore throat. Try an antihistamine and see if it makes any difference?
