I've had a colonoscopy and endoscopy. I assume I was well sedated, as I don't remember them at all. The sedative wears off quickly, although you will feel VERY sleepy for 24 hours afterwards.

The laxatives they give you are strong, so try not to be more than 5 mins away from a toilet. It's also worth getting some Sudocrem as you will have a really sore bum. Sorry if tmi, but it's better to know.

Good luck.

I had a colonoscopy and gastroscopy.

The Picolax is hideous. Sorry, but you need to be prepared. I was a fit young thing and I thought I was going to die from the inside out. The world literally fell out of my bum.

I had to spend a whole day in the loo with a book and a jug of water as all that pooing makes you very thirsty (and you can't eat). I second the Sudocrem idea.

The actual procedure was fine. Lovely sedation, don't remember a thing about it. Felt a bit hungover afterwards. Woke up to tea and toast.

Hope it goes well for you.

OK - I have a 22 month old and a 3 year old and no help tomorrow. I guess I will just have to manaage. I tend to be on the loo a lot anyway at the moment

I had gastroscopy with no sedation just a bit of local anaesthetic throat spray...wasn't particularly pleasant swallowing the scope (makes you gag) but once down not that bad at all. Had biopsies too which was just like a weird tugging sensation.

If you have sedation I think you'd be pretty much unaware of whats going on.

HTH and hope it's all straight forward for you.

I've had the colonoscopy and endoscopy... the laxative works really quick, the sedation was wonderful and I don't remember a thing about the precedure... mind you when I woke up I couldn't stop farting... I mean really loudly like a horse, I'm sure they heard it in the next ward, I just pretended I was still asleep, The worst bit was not eating the day before and the day of the precedure.. good luck,

Good luck...just second what everyone has said about picolax. Very violent results when my dh had it.
