Weird bleeding between periods.....anyone had this??

I had it for around 3 months before Xmas, and couldn't have any type of (ahem) "interference", or I would bleed...I mean like a full on, week long period type bleed, no matter how recently my last period has been. was dreadful after my smear in Dec.

Met a new partner in Jan, probs all went away and me very happy. New dp and I (probably stupidly) decided to just use the pill as contraception as both of us were having problems with condoms. So have been swabbed for Chlamydia today (although already had a urine test for it that was negative) and am absolutely horrified that I might have an STD!!! Has anyone had anything like this before? If it's not Chlamydia will need to be referred to a gynae. I am a bit scared of what it could be, also scared that new DP will dump me if the test is positive.

Please somebody make me feel a little less terrified!!!

I had bleeding quite heavily after sex for bout 6 months but only bled for about 2 days each time.
I had a cervical erosion, sorted following cauterisation.

only telling you this because there are other causes of bleeding after sex.

And don't overly worry, stigma around std's is much less these days

First thing I thought of was have you had a smear, but you say yes, presumably you had the result and it's all normal. Pelvic inflammatory disease? Are you under stress? This can cause irregular bleeding as well apparently. Don't worry, I do enough of that for everyone. Go to gynae and have it looked into, will very likely be nothing serious.

I was told today that I have a small erosion, so that maybe causing some problems. But is not responsible for so much bleeding. Feel crap!

sorry to hear that, though as soup kitchen says, it can be sorted out. Are you having more investigations? Try not to worry, these things usually have a simple explanation. I'm a complete wimp when it comes to health, have had loads of scares recently, but fears have all been unfounded. You can spend so much time worrying for nothing. Good luck, hope you get it sorted out soon.

Thanks all, I am sure it won't be anything terrible, but I am absolutely mortified about possibly having Chlamydia. I mentioned it to dp (thought I should) and he seemed ok, but now I wish I hadn't said anything at all. I am worried that he will not want anything to do with me if the test is positive. Add that to worrying about having to have further investigations, it's really startng to get me down. Dp was not really able to be terribly supportive as he has lots of worries of his own. My Mum is being great, as she is obviously a little worried. I just feel so depressed about it all.

I had cysts on my ovaries which caused bleeding between periods, was sorted out after I had the coil removed.

Best to get it checked

If your partner doesn't want to know you because you have a STD I think you are better off without him. Maybe he gave it to you?

If is caused by an erosion it could be lots of extra sex when not any for awhile maybe but I think you said you bled before?

i hope you get this sorted soon.
