hurt my ankle

just had some heavy furniture fall against the back of my ankle, was so painful i screamed in agony, swelling and discolouration immediately, still throbbing, also stinging and sore, any idea what i've done or is it just bruised

yes but very painful to do so

very hard to say. it could be a bad bruise or a fracture. i broke mine badly and it was like yours except i could not flex it. can you get an x-ray tonight?

I am not a doctor, this is first aid advice from a mum

rice - rest, ice (not direclty on it, wrap a bag of frozen peas in a teatowl or something), compression (tubigrip, but NOT a tight bandage) and it's not that important at this stage, elevation - put it up. And take some ibuprofen for pain and swelling. And rest, and get everyone to run round after you. If you can move it keep moving it gently.

If it is horrible tomorrlw go to a walk-in minor injuries place just in case, and they can tubigrip it properly for you if necessary

i could go to a and e but will have to take 3 young children with me, one of whom has just gone to sleep
