Swollen lymph node - advice needed please

Hi all

Looking for advice/reassurance while I wait for a doctors appointment tomorrow.
I have some health issues (but physically well no viruses I know of) and I noticed some swollen lymph nodes behind my ears and on my neck middle of last week. One on my neck has grown so it is just visible looking at me. I didn't think it could be down to a virus as I've not been unwell.

However this morning my 6 year old woke up with a sore throat and I felt their neck and they too have a swollen lymph node.

Does anyone have any experience of this? Having a swollen lymph node due to a virus but not actually have any other symptoms of the virus?

Advice would be really really appreciated as due to my other health issues I've developed health anxiety.

It will probably be doing an excellent job of fighting off something that you're not aware, hence no symptoms.

We are exposed to many viruses each week. Some we aren't even aware of as our immune system spots them early and sorts it out. Only the ones that our body's hasn't learnt about yet cause symptoms.

My eldest son would often get raised lymph nodes as a youngster and they'd hang around for a while. Very normal.

Just keep hydrated and eat well

It's hard with other health issues to recognise what is relevant or not though, I do get that

Thanks @WarriorN I have a really good immune system, always have. Rarely sick as a child and generally avoid most bugs my kids bring home so that sounds about right for me! Thank you very much for replying.

Oh that's brilliant and I'm jealous! Though I've definitely improved my immune system via lifestyle things lately.

You will be getting all sorts of bugs but you've got a very clever immune system.

Covid demonstrated how many viruses worked; those who tested positive and felt completely well still had to quarantine as they could still pass it on.

Viruses make grand use of people who don't get symptoms and so don't stay at home in bed!

Always worth getting lumps that have hung about checked though Smile
