Horrible flu-type virus

Hi all,

Is anyone else suffering with an awful flu-type bug? Mine started on Friday night so I’m 5 days into a high temperature, razor blade sore throat, chesty cough, constant headache, fatigue and body aches.
I don’t remember a time where I’ve felt this unwell for so long; usually 1 or 2 bad days but I’m wiped out by this.
DH is also away for a week so I’m solo parenting my 3 and 5 year olds 🫠
Took a Covid test to check and it’s negative.

When will I start feeling normal?!!

I had something over Christmas, was literally in bed for three weeks. Sorry!

@boulevardofbrokendreamss Oh really? It’s bloody horrible isn’t it? I’m counting down the days until DH gets home and I can throw the kids at him and sleep for 14 hours.

Ive got it too. Started slowly last wednesday with headache and pressure behind my eyes but not sinus type pains. Then the razor- in -throat pains and headache plus the coughing. Oh lord the coughing 😖
Ive also lost my voice and if I try to talk it ends up with me coughing more.

Come on now . Its time this was done with😡

@Vanfan My cough has worsened this evening to the point that I’ve been sick because of it. I’m honestly exhausted and can’t get away from the headache. I’ve lost track of whether I’ve taken paracetamol or ibuprofen last.

Sending healing thoughts (and meds) your way!

Ive had a shower and washed my hair for the first time all week and am feeling cleaner if not quite revived. Although I think the hot water has helped the cough which might be something to think about .

I really feel for you having to cope with 2 young children at the same time as battling this virus. I have older DC living away so only have to deal with myself and can take my time with sorting myself out.

A friend suggested beechams powders as it worked well for them . Ive looked it up and its Aspirin and caffeine. so maybe that would help you when added to your usual medication?
