How can I regulate my moods?

My mood swings are becoming a real issue. I'm 42, I've been finding my mood swings have become more intense over the last few years. Definitely hormone related as it's always at similar times in my cycle. However, I also have an 8yo and 6yo and started working in a school a couple of years ago so there's also just general tiredness, feeling touched-out, lack of time to myself etc thrown into the mix. I have days (today being one of them) where I just feel I can't cope. I feel overwhelmed, my temper flares up easily and I feel like I could just walk out and start a new life somewhere else! (I wouldn't actually do that but that's how I feel!)

I went to see the GP about it last year and she put me on the mini-pill. It helped my moods a bit but I spotted constantly, so after about 8 months on it I gave up at the start of Jan this year. I've tried the WellWoman vitamins but they made me feel sick (bizarre as they're just vitamins!). I take a regular multi-vitamin and eat relatively healthily. I don't get much time to exercise but my job is really active so I hit at least 10k steps a day.

Any suggestions on what else I can do or try? I feel like a crazy person several days each month!!

I don’t have any advice but you have my sympathy as in slap bang in the middle of this now and clinging onto the fact I will feel amazing the second my period arrives in a few days.
