Potential bile production issue or gastro?

Hi all
sorry for the TMI hoping that someone may be able to advise.

on Saturday my partner and myself went out for a meal. Sunday I felt dreadful and developed sickness and diarrhoea which I put down to the meal. Since Sunday I have had diarrhoea which had been a pale yellow colour and water. I have been eating very little but when I have eaten my stomach has swollen dramatically and it’s been very painful. Yesterday I ate a piece of toast which results in awful stomach pains and then I was sick, this relieved the stomach pains. Today I have eaten some porridge as thought it would be easy to digest, I have since passed a stool that was harder (although still soft) but clay coloured. I am now concerned that this isn’t a stomach bug as Initially thought and may be an issue with bile production as the symptoms match mine. However could it be the case that bile is effected due to the bug and will resolve itself? Unsure whether to seek medical assistance at this point or to monitor over the next couple of days. Any advice appreciated. Also does anyone know how they test for bile issues if this was needed?

many thanks

Yellow stood is common in fast transit such as diarrhoea as there’s no time for the bike to be reabsorbed.

I suggest you see a GP who can do stool samples of you’re concerned.

When my daughter had a sickness and diarrhoea bug some years back the stool she did a few days after the virus subsided was almost grey/white in colour. I panicked thinking there was something wrong with her liver but it was due to inflammation on the pancreas which can be common after a sickness bug. She then didn't go for another 4 days and it was back to normal, so this sounds about right tbh but if it hasn't got better in a week definitely go to the doctors xx

Thanks both, makes sense. I am lucky in that I am rarely unwell!
