2ww referral follow up appointment - told to bring someone!

Family member currently on 2 week cancer pathway due to some gastric discomfort. So far has had bloods & stool tests (normal), endoscopy 2 days ago which didn't show anything of concern (was given copy of report to take away). They took biopsies though which I believe is standard? Has CT booked for next week (was booked in before they had the endoscopy so is not as a result of iyswim). Has just received follow up appointment for 6 weeks time which advises they bring friend or family member with them which has sent them spiralling.

Have tried to reassure saying it's just a standard letter for 2ww referrals, given that they haven't even completed all the tests yet and wouldn't wait 6 weeks to deliver bad news, but actually not sure!

Anyone have any idea?

Sounds like it's a good idea to take someone with them, the cancer referral won't have been made for no reason and if they are anxious on just receiving an appointment thet may be too anxious to take on board any information at the appointment so take a second pair of ears as it were
