Nodule on ear - should I worry?

I have a little nodule at the top of my ear. It's been there for about 3 months. Sometimes it has a little scab or dried skin on it which I can pick off. It's sore when I sleep on that side despite having a soft pillow. I have sent a photo to my GP but not heard back yet. I was talking to a neighbour and she was telling me that she had had some skin cancer removed from her forehead. This made me worry that this on my ear might be skin cancer. I remember getting severe sun burn on the tops of my ears when I was a teenager (30 years ago).

That does look a bit suspect. I'd get it checked out, seeing as it's been there for so long.

It could be a Basal Cell Carcinoma. They appear commonly on places exposed to the sun, like the top of your ear. Get it checked.

@NanTheWiser
Thanks for that link - from the picture and description it certainly seems like it might be this.

I have sent a picture to my GP and expect to hear back from them today, if not I will chase it up.

My GP has sent me an appointment for next Tuesday, so I'll let you know what they think it is

I saw the Gp today. She confirmed it is Chondrodermatitis nodularis helicis and she has prescribed a steroid cream to use twice a day.

If it doesn't get rid of it then I have an appointment with another GP in a months time to have it frozen
