4 + week cough and flu

I was really unwell at the beginning, almost like Covid (tested negative) I was bed bound for a week which wasn’t fun with a 1 year old. When I thought I was getting better the horrible wet cough began, and then part 2 of the flu returned.
I kept dosed up and rested, I’m also very on top of cleaning and airing the house out. No one else in the household caught it.
Almodt 5 weeks on I still have the symptoms and cough.
I did the nhs symptom checker and it told me to call 999 which I found extreme (I won’t be calling them). I do feel so lousy, I have no energy or motivation and I’ve been sleeping for 12-14 hours a day since it began.
I know no one here can diagnose anything but has any one else experienced this recently? I feel silly seeing the doctor and wasting an appointment, but could I need antibiotics?
The last time I was unwell was around 10 years ago, it’s very rare for me to even get a cold but this has floored me and left me with constant breathlessness and headaches. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I went to bed in 23rd December and didn't get out for three weeks. Have never been so ill. I am no finally back to full strength. I don't know what it was, I think flu but it properly wiped me out. Still have a bit of a lingering cough

Yes this is me currently, it's flu A apparently wiping people out. I'm currently going into my third week, I've never been so sick. Get checked with your GP as a precautionary measure, but it seems this is taking the wind out of everyone and the recovery is long. Best of luck, hope you feel better soon!

I am at the tail end of this, after about a month of various nasty symptoms coming for two or three days at a time, along with complete exhaustion. All I want to do now is sleep. Brain slightly less foggy, but still a bit muddled.

DH and I both had flu and covid vaccines in October. It’s gone round the whole family.

I felt wiped out for about ten days before I got actual ( flu) symptoms. My dh had to practically carry me into the drs on Friday - he diagnosed flu and has put me on a dose of cortisone. I am exhausted - just sleeping all the time. I am literally never sick, very fit and active. Never again am I eschewing the vaccine.
