Pylori

Hi I’ve been experiencing awful pain in my ribs and flank . I’ve seen a Dr and he wants me to do a stool sample for Pylori
No disrespect, it’s very common but the way in which it’s spread sounds disgusting .
If the test comes back as pylori I don’t have a clue how I got it .

Do you mean Helicobacter Pylori - the thing that can live in the stomach lining without giving any trouble and then one day come marching out and give you a load of grief.
What do you mean by the disgusting way it's spread? I learned to swim in a river. I have read that you can be infected with it from water which has traces of faeces in it. Is that what you mean? When I was a child, a long time ago, there would have been some loos which were emptied into the local river - 70/80 years ago. You wouldn't see anything in particular in the water but no doubt tests would find all manner of nasty things. My parents also learned to swim in rivers and they had ulcers, which may have been caused by the HP being in their systems, too.

I was very troubled by H P and had the anti-biotics for it but a doctor told me that you can be re-infected. Edit to say maybe by a door handle. Have you been on any holidays to slightly dodgy places?

Hi , no I haven’t travelled anywhere dodgy , tbh I hadn’t heard of Pylori , I’ve been reading up about it but thanks for your info it’s given me a greater understanding . My Dr thinks that I might be suffering with Pylori .
