help, burnt finger

burnt my finger quite badly on the oven. got it in a glass of cold water but every time i take it out it is absolute agony. i can't sit like this all night, i need to get on... any helpful tips?

Cold RUNNING water on it for AT LEAST 10 minutes.

Wrapping in in potato peelings is meant to be good. Something about the starch or enzymes!! I have done this before and it did seem to work. Can you walk about with your finger in the glass of water? That's what I do.

yes, just cold running tap for at least 10 minutes. There are creams you can buy for burns but I don't think they are any good myself. Plus not very useful for you right now! Hope it stops hurting soon.

Keeping it up above your head helps with the throbbing although it's just as impractical as the glass of water.

Minor Burns - Treatment
For minor burns, hold the affected area under cold water for at least 10 minutes or until the pain subsides. Remove jewellery etc. and cover the burn as detailed above.

If a minor burn is larger than a postage stamp it requires medical attention. All deep burns of any size require urgent hospital treatment.

Lavender oil is very good for burns.

Yes was going to say that Aloe Vera Gel is meant to be very good for burns but that's no good if you've not got any! Hope it's feelign better son.

After running it under the tap for as long as you can bear, I'd wrap some ice in a fairly damp flannel (if it's quite damp, but not dripping, the ice won't stick to it), and hold it on your finger. This will give good relief as long as the skin isn't broken. If the skin has broken though you might need to get it seen to so it doesn't become infected. HTH.
