I noticed my urine has a smell so I tested using some strips but don't know how to interpret the results, please help.

I think the ketones part is showing something

What colour is the ketones square before dipping? Is it dark already? because I’ve found it turns dark regardless and does not mean anything.

I am no expert but isn’t leukocytes to do with infection? Your square looks non-elevated.

I'd stay that's positive for proteins and possibly ketones
Signs of a urine/bladder/kidney infection brewing possibly ?

What condition do you have that means you’re testing your blood glucose and urine? Might help us understand more.

I am very overweight, around 19 stone so am aware of diabetes. My last blood test around 6 months ago said everything was perfect. I was surprised. I don't test urine or blood often. Sort of a just in case I need them.

I've had a bit of discomfort in possibly my bladder and am peeing a little more often and noticed a smell which is why I tested. Unfortunately I'm a very poor drinker. Only around 500ml a day. Trying to drink some water now.

Ketones can show up in your urine if you are dehydrated, or if your body is using fat stores from not eating enough. If you have not been drinking enough then that may explain the smelly urine.

6.2 is pretty normal.

Izzy24 · 23/02/2025 22:53

The nitrites look an interesting colour but that may be because the time has passed when the reading is accurate ( the strips are time sensitive).

Not looking like any infection markers on there but yes, eat and drink!

Izzy24 · 23/02/2025 22:54

Also, not drinking enough will make your wee smell and irritate your bladder due to concentrated urine.
