TMI warning. I’ve tried not to go into too much graphic detail.
I’ve had IBS for all my adult life and still no wiser as to the triggers in all honesty. I’ve done FODMAP and I eat well, healthy weight. I dont drink alcohol very often, I don’t smoke. I try to be active.
IBS been settled for about a year. Bowel movement daily no problems.
I am in what seems to be a constipation phase for 8 weeks now. I didn’t take anything to start with, but the day of my holiday in Jan, I hadn’t had a BM for a week then I suddenly went spontaneously about 9 times in one day and I felt a lot better.
Then I couldn’t have a BM again for another week. At this point I took a bisocodyl (spasmodic laxative) which obviously took effect as expected and then I have tried to get back to normal but I can’t. I wasn’t in pain just not having any BM’s.
A week later still no BM, So then I tried movicol, taking 2 a day for a week which was starting to help but not much was happening, I was having small BM’s during the day, not very large amounts
then I thought maybe I need more fibre in my diet so I took one fybogel sachet yesterday instead of any movicol.
Since the fybogel I feel awful, so bloated and gassy, stomach hurts all the time and now I am going to the loo multiple times a day still very small amounts but it’s really smelly and loose.
I regret the fybogel and I won’t be taking that again. And I don’t think I should take any movicol until I feel better?
I don’t know how to get back on track from this episode. I will have to wait weeks for a GP appt anyway which is why I am trying to help myself before I go, I wasn’t hoping I could get on top of it before it turns chronic?
