What are the drugs that slow down the development of dementia, and how effective are they?

Just that really

I have a friend abroad who has been diagnosed with an unknown cognitive condition at 75. He is clearly afraid it will develop into dementia

My mother did have dementia and was automatically put on something whose name I cant recall. (oops!!)

What do you know about drugs that are both proven to work, or are being investigated?

What's your experience been of how helpful any of them have been?

Mementon Midon (sp) Did appear to slow it slightly.
Diet worth looking into. There's one used by many nursing homes in the states. It's basically no carbs I think. Can't remember the name. I wish your friend the very best. It's very unfair.

Thank you @mikado1 - great advice. Sadly my friend is not into diet, though they are happy to explore drugs. I however am very into nutrition, and am doing everything I can on that front given my Mum got dementia in her 70s.
