Sunscreen for 6 month old???

With the sunny days I have been wondering if I should be using sunscreen on DS 6 month. He seems to get tanned although he has a big sunhat and we stay as much in the shade as possible. If so, which sunscreen should be used for babies? I have heard many controversial opinions about sunscreens. Thanks!

I bought a baby sunscreen from superdrug, its 50+spf and designed specifically for babies. I know there is a lot of disagreement but i can never get every inch of her in the shade so this is a neccessity.

i tried last year to get some for ds2 and they were all for 1yr plus, so in the end i asked the chemist and he said not to use it on a baby and hold an umberella over him instead!!

instead i used the banana boat baby suncream and he didnt seem to have any adverse effects on him, still has 2 arm 2 legs no patchy skin and it done its job so dont know why they dont recommend ir for babies??

jennster can you help??

Thanks for your replies. We will be moving to Colorado. So even more of an issue there.

Have just bought banana boat spf 50 no tears suncream for babies - haven't tried it yet but hear it's very popular in Australia.
