Anyone else get Uveitis?

Haven't had a flare up for 2 years but it's back - this time in both eyes! I went to eye casualty on Wednesday and got the steroid drops. It makes me feel exhausted and unwell all over. What a bloody nuisance this is!

I used to get it a lot!

I havn't had it since 2 things happened:
1 I had DS
2 I stopped wearing contacts

I have no idea if either of these is relevant.

edit: it’s been about 18 years since I had an attack.

Yes, I get it 2-3 times a year (never had it in both eyes at once, but in Jan I did have uveitis in one eye and shingles in the other). In contrast to PP, mine only started after I had my daughter. I no longer wear contact lenses. I am HLAB27 positive, but don't have AS. Have you had all the tests to rule out anything underlying?
I also hate having to trek up to eye casualty every time, I wish they would just give me a supply of the steroid drops - I am very familiar with the symptoms at this point.
Sympathies, it is rubbish.

I've been tested for HLAB27 and am positive for that. Never had any other tests. I stopped wearing contacts about 10 years ago which helped decrease the amount of attacks I think.

Yes I wish I had a supply of drops at home, like you I know as soon as it's starting. I had it abroad on holiday once - bloody nightmare!

Apparently I have scarring in my right eye ftom previous attacks.

I had uveitis over ten years ago and was treated at Moorfields. I also had cystoid maculopathy. My eye is badly damaged - the optician shows me the damage every time he tests my eyes.

I always dread getting it on holiday- I’ve actually squirrelled away a bottle of the steroid drops from when a pharmacist gave me the wrong amount once in case this happens. Nightmare!
Sounds like you’re the same as me then - HLAB27 but nothing else to explain it. They’re always telling me to just be less stressed.

MissyB1 · 21/02/2025 22:09

I wonder how to live this stress free life they advise 😂😂

I really feel for you. I’ve had uveitis about five times over the last couple of years. It’s always in the same eye and I dread getting it again as it’s very painful. I’ve been tested for all sorts but nothing found. Every time I get a slight irritation in my eye I start panicking .
