How do GP’s in Australia get notified of results

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows how it works in Australia with scan results? I am abit of an anxious person, I have been having abnormal periods ever since having my now 2.5 year old, had it all looked in to 2 years ago but going back for a second opinion as I feel they have since gotten worse. I was referred for a scan and have an appointment booked for tomorrow to get my results. I phoned to the surgery to make sure they were there so I could confirm my appointment and they advised the results must be in the doctors inbox as they couldn’t see them. The receptionist checked and the doctors had them in their inbox but hadn’t checked them yet but said they will forward them to my normal doctor for my appointment tomorrow for her to check.

do you think ultrasounds clinics normally flag results if they are concerning or is it totally on the doctor to check and make sure and call you in earlier if something was really wrong?

Aussie here. In my case, my doctor reviews my scans on the day they receive them and will phone me if I need an earlier appointment (than the one I have booked). If not urgent they don't contact me. It's always an anxious time waiting for results. I usually think 'no news is good news'. Hopefully your results will be ok. Flowers

I hope so! It seems odd that I could see the report was released on my health 2 days ago (I don’t have access to review until 7 day mark) but the doctor still hadn’t reviewed it. So I hope that means it was just an average result, surely they would flag them with some type of urgency if there was something that neede following up

Different drs do different things. My daughters I get a message on hot doc if they’ve reviewed and if any action needs taking. Our other one is hopeless and I usually call to see if they’ve reviewed or I wait til the 7 days and review myself lol. If you’re worried you could call and see if they’ve made any notes on your file.
