am anxious as am due to go away for the weekend

he's been complaining about pain inside his mouth today - mostly when eating

i can't get him to explain where exactly it hurts, nor can i see anything (although he's reluctant to let me have a good look)

dribbling a bit

he has all his teeth (i think? he has 20)

he's very nearly 3yo

can't understand why an ulcer/ bitten cheek would be causing him so much pain

he has a temp of 37.3 degrees, but maybe that's just due to it being 27 degrees in his room...?

Maybe he has a sore throat?

Ledodgy · 09/05/2008 19:07

If his throat is sore he may not want to swallow hence the dribbling.

Tutter · 09/05/2008 19:11

i don't think it's his throat tbh - you can see him wince when he puts certain foods in his mouth (sweet stuff seemed particularly bad)

strange though - nursery said he ate all his lunch

has he burned his tongue on something?

Ledodgy · 09/05/2008 19:12

Thinking about it ds1 was like this last year and a few days later blisters appeared on his hands and it was hand, foot and mouth so keep an eye out.

Tutter · 09/05/2008 19:13

can't think what he might have burned it on foxy - any ideas?

like if someone gave him something too hot

foxinsocks · 09/05/2008 19:16

(like food not cooled down) I'm not accusing you, just wondering out loud really

my initial thoughts were throat

or has he had too much pineapple? that always makes my mouth hurty and weird?

Tutter · 09/05/2008 19:17

funny - he won't eat anything unless it's almost cold

but anyway, no i don't think so

Tutter a mouth ulcer is extremely painful, but I think its rather consistent, so not eating lunch at nursery doesn't really fit.

Could you have a nosy when he's asleep? I know I couldn't with my light sleeping DS, but I coujld with DD!

wrinklytum · 09/05/2008 19:19

Could it be a mouth ulcer (clutches straws, genuinely puzzled)

TheArmadillo · 09/05/2008 19:21

sounds like what ds is getting over.

he's 3.6.

Temp, heavy cold, and complaining that his mouth hurts and refusing to eat because of it. He dribbles a lot anyway so it was difficult to tell wtih that.
Dr couldn't see anything wrong with the inside of his mouth. But he was screaming at some points (also all sore and cracked round outside of his mouth which didn't help).

He's had it about a week and seems to be getting over it now.

Dp has been feeding him milk with honey in

Not sure if it helped or whether it was clearing up on own/.

foxinsocks · 09/05/2008 19:27

who is looking after him tutter, while you're away?

Tutter · 09/05/2008 19:28

dh and PILs

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 09/05/2008 19:33

going away on your own ?

he'll be ok with them then won't he. Maybe it's some weirdy ulcer thing but it doesn't sound too serious esp if you think it isn't his throat (was just thinking whether maybe the food at nursery was too hot for him?)

Do you still feel anxious? Don't want it to spoil your time away. I think key is how he appears 'in himself' iyswim?

Tutter · 09/05/2008 21:37

yes a little anxious - only the second time i've been away from him overnight [pathetic]

off to meet up with a group of girlfriends in the cotswolds

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 09/05/2008 21:45

ahh it's not pathetic. It's understandable. Hope you have a good time. I'm sure dh will manage.
