I had a phone appointment with a gp Friday and they think a have a pilonidal cyst. I've been given anti biotic but it doesn't seem to be healing.
Does anyone have experience.
Does the look like one if so?
Thanks

I've had this a few times. Some of the times it got better with antibiotics . On two occasions antibiotics didn't help and I had to have it drained under general anaesthetic. As they drain it they didn't stich it up, they pack the open wound and then wait for it to heal up. This process take a while and I was off work for 8 weeks each time. The last time was in 2011 and it's not come back since.

Exactly the same for me as with @Mummmyof1
Pray the a/bs work!!!! Surgical draining is no fun and the initial aftercare (removal of the ribbon gauze packing) can be horrific.

I had one years ago. I was prescribed (if I remember correctly) keflex and metrodiazanole and that did the job. It was pretty badly infected. I hope yours gets sorted.

The long recovery is freaking me out tbh. I've seen some horrific photos online. Mine doesn't seem infected any more it's just split open and the wound doesn't seem to be healing.
I did add a picture but it's gone for some reason.

Yep I had the surgery, it's called wide excision, mine was completely removed rather than drained. Awful recovery, and awful having it repacked daily.

Does this look like it?
