Mirena Coil Experiences

Hi! Thought I’d post on here to see if anyone has had a similar experience - I had the mirena coil fitted to support with heavy periods I’ve had it for about 17 months now. On a whole it had lightened but then I had 3 months where periods were SO heavy needing a pad and tampon. I have been pretty regular still which I quite liked as I was prepared for at least a little bleed. I went back to my doctors and I have an ultrasound in 2 weeks to see why the bleeding was so heavy. However - I’m now nearly 2 weeks late and nothing?! I’ve had pains and aches and sore boobs all your usuals but no bleeding?! Has the mirena FINALLY decided to work?! Just so intrigued why now all of a sudden it seems to have kicked in?

My first mirena was put in nearly 8 years ago (I've had another one since) and I haven't had a single period, it's bliss. Makes up for the fact that changing it was quite horrible!

Mine worked from day one. No more than a hint of a period, more a slight discharge, regular as clockwork. I had three until menopause. Transformed my life.
I suspect something else is going on OP?

Yeah that’s why I’m being sent for an ultra sound but I had to push for it! All bloods came back normal except iron deficiency which wasn’t a surprise but just odd it’s now stopped! I did think maybe fibroids/ endo but neither would explain a sudden stop! A complicated one it seems!
