Severe lower stomach pain

Zaina89 · 13/02/2025 21:29

So 3 days ago I woke up in the middle of the night with moderate stomach pains, lower part of my stomach, not period pain type feeling but more like a dull constant ache. It contained on throughout the following day and by the early evening I was in severe pain. I’ve got quite a high pain tolerance, past history of gallstones ( but this wasn’t anything like gallbladder pain) had 3 births without pain relief and I would compare this pain very similar to labour pain and how painful it is. That night I went and had a bath at 11pm because I was in such bad pain, had very watery diareha that night but stopped the next day,was then awake all night in pain downstairs on the sofa. In pain all day again yesterday but gets slightly better when I lie down, taking pain killers when I could. Same thing again last night didn’t sleep, was in severe pain today. It was so bad I was struggling to walk when I went to collect my children from school. I called the gp at 3pm crying and they managed to get me an emergency appointment. Doctor checked me over and said it’s gastroenteritis and has given me lansoprazole and told me to take paracetamol. Does this sound right? I’ve never been in this much pain in my life( apart from gallbladder attacks and childbirth) never experienced anything like this, had norovirus and feels nothing like this. I’m still in pain now. Does gastroenteritis sound right? Im not being sick, diareha only for a couple of hours but just severe pain for 3 days now.

Just to add, I have 3 children and husband at home and no one else is experiencing anything like this.

Call 111. They will assess and provide an appropriate response.

Pinkelephant66 · 13/02/2025 21:40

could it be Appendicitis?

SleepyHippy3 · 13/02/2025 21:46

Raptured appendix, perhaps? I say this because I had immense stomach ache and intense pain, for a couple of days. On day 2 I went to the GP and was told that it’s probably IBS. By that evening, I couldn’t properly walk or lie down, as I was in so much pain. I went to a&e, and they found my appendix had raptured. OP, I would go to straight A&E, asap.

QuestionableMouse · 13/02/2025 21:48

You need to be seen again by a doctor. No one in here can advise and it would be irresponsible to do so.

helpfulperson · 13/02/2025 21:52

When I was admitted to hospital with similar it turned out to be a UTI. I was throwing up with pain. Definitely get a second opinion.

poppinpink · 13/02/2025 22:09

This sounds a bit like something I had last week and I put it down to a stomach bug. Couldn't eat for 4 days and not much after that for the rest of the week! wee bit of diarrhoea at the start, achy body all over and the stomach pains, no energy to even speak or move. Never experienced anything like it before, felt like death the first two days! Hopefully it passes soon!

Meandyouandyouandme · 13/02/2025 22:23

Could it be an ovarian cyst? I had one that was incredibly painful and I've had 3 children, it was worse than labour. I ended up in A&E on morphine with it, you may need a scan. Though at first the doctors thought it was a UTI.

Crispynoodle · 13/02/2025 23:21

Dear God I would be going to A&E with severe abdominal pain. It could be lots of things! A diverticulitis attack, kidney stones, ovarian cysts bursting, appendicitis the only way you will find out is go to A&E

Redrosesposies · 13/02/2025 23:27

Sounds very like when my appendix burst

Shadow1986 · 13/02/2025 23:31

I’ve had the exact same thing OP. I’m putting it down to a bit of a stomach bug. Very unusual though to have this much stomach pain without more sickness and diarrhoea. I only had one bout of diarrhoea too. I’ve also had waves of nausea. I spent my whole evening in the bath last night in so much pain. Hopefully we are over the worst!

This is me just now! I’ve never felt so ill.
the headache/teeth/jaw pain is horrendous and just will not be alleviated.
Really bad sinus pain.
I am really miserable!

Christ all of you need to see a doctor. @BellaCiaoBellaCiao @Shadow1986

Caerulea · 14/02/2025 01:05

If you're putting this up there with labour pain & gallstone attacks then doesn't sound like gastro to me! I'd be onto 111 if I were you.

Any temperature?

I know, I’m just too ill to get there, at the moment 😔
just had another “episode” in the bathroom.
Thank God for bleach, is all I can say! 😂🤦‍♀️

Zaina89 · 14/02/2025 06:55

thank you for all your replies.
interesting to see a few others are going through the same thing!! It’s so awful!

the doctor felt my stomach and said she isn’t worried about appendicitis because my stomach is nice and soft. When she touched my stomach I didn’t complain of it hurting but hurting on the inside of that makes sense.

I’ve had some pain through out the night, I have it still now around my back and front, I am on the nexplanon implant and period is late usually get it the first week of the month ( been regular on the nexplanon for 6 months but been on it 16 months) but doctor says it’s normal to miss periods on nexplanon.

if this goes on again today like yesterday and no sign of it getting better I won’t go back to gp I will ring 111 instead, sorry to all those going through the same thing but it puts my mind at ease a little.

my younger brother had appendicitis when he was very young so that’s what I was concerned about but doctor checked me and said she doesn’t think it’s that as my stomach is nice and soft. I am very bloated though and feel huge even though I’m actually not.

You should take a pregnancy test. If this doesn't get any better today definitely hospital for some investigations - bloods at least!!

I did yesterday, was negative so atleast that’s something that’s ruled out. I definitely will do. Will just try and rest today as well to see if that helps anything.

Yes I’m the only one with it too! I went somewhere on Monday where there was a buffet so I touched serving spoons etc so I’m wondering if I’ve caught some kind of stomach bug from that… 🤢

I had the waves of nausea last night after a court of days of feeling good.
Was actually sick, though.
Had HORRENDOUS stomach pain all last night and most of today.
Writhing in pain. Almost crying.
Absolutely awful.

Thankfully, it’s subsided and I’m just back to banging headache and sinus pain! 🤦‍♀️🤬😂
