Hello. Does anybody want to have a support thread for pre diabetes? If anybody is in the same boat.

I've just been told this by the GP & I'm worried about what happens next.

Hi op! If you don't get any replies are you aware that there's a general diabetes support board and reposting their you might get a better response

Btw I had this in lockdown. I was just on the cusp of a prediabetes reading and my gp said I should just concentrate on losing 10% of my body weight. And be retested in a year.

I now have a weight in my head that I try to keep under as much as possible. So far all my blood tests have been fine. But I'm constantly aware of my genetic makeup (mother and grandmother have/were diabetic). I also remember when I gave my family history to a practice nurse years ago that she said it's not inevitable that I will be diagnosed ever.

I think it's useful to think "well at least I have the information now and it should be something pretty much in my control"

That's not to say I don't worry when I have my annual blood tests. But I also think treatment and knowledge is much better these days and constantly improving. So many people are at risk of diabetes and the complications that it can lead to mean there's a lot of effort worldwide to help people.
